Q&A with Jack Jewell, Norman High Defensive Lineman and Jumbo Back

Assess the year so far, and what have been the positives and negatives from your perspective?
We've had a tough year.   Most of our losses were due to small mistakes from not being familiar with the new system we have going on.  If we would have had more time to prepare like other teams, then this season would have turned out differently.  There is still hope for the years to follow because one season can't tell how the full spectrum of the program is going to turn out.

Negatives - lack of trust
Positives - this program has a great future

What other sports do you like?
Wrestling, Track, Trap Shooting, Competitive Shooting, Racquetball, many others.

What’s your favorite pro team?
I don't really watch Pro Football, if I had to choose one I would pick the Dallas Cowboys because my dad likes them.

Compare Nebraska high school football to Oklahoma high school football.
It's very similar.  Nebraska has one less regular season game.

Your dad was a top player for NHS in the mid-80’s, what does it mean for you to be able to play for the Tigers and is there any pressure to outdo old dad?
It's cool that I play at the same school as my dad did, but I don't see it as a competitive thing between us - I see it as we've both conquered the halls of NHS.  Plus, my mom went here too.

What have you learned from the new coaching staff?
New assignments and new terminology on the field.

Gives us your view on the future of Norman Tiger football.
Well, I didn't know much about the old tradition and I'm sure the new tradition will thrive just like the old one did, it just needs time to develop.

Midwest City is a tough ballclub, what would it take to beat them?
We'd have to move the ball on offense.  We'd all have to play blood thirsty and have trust in the other players, and coaches, knowing that they're doing what they can to defeat the opponent.

Who is your favorite teammate (or teammates) on the field and why?
Team = Family

How does it feel to be a Division I college football prospect?
It feels good to know that big teams want me to play for them.
